Subject:           Availability of the Abandoned Mine Lands Program Accomplishments Report - “Abandoned Mine Lands – A New Legacy”

The Division of Environmental Quality and Protection is pleased to announce the availability of the Abandoned Mine Lands (AML) Program Accomplishments Report - “Abandoned Mine Lands – A New Legacy” (Bureau of Land Management (BLM) publication number BLM/WO/GI-13/007-3720).  The report exhibits the fine, innovative work of the AML program from fiscal years 2009 to 2011.  The report also outlines the “new legacy” that the AML program is creating through reclamation and remediation of abandoned mine features and sites on the public lands managed by the BLM.  The AML program could not do this alone; our partners and cooperators have been highlighted throughout the booklet.

The report is available on the BLM website at: http://www.blm.gov/style/medialib/blm/wo/MINERALS__REALTY__AND_RESOURCE_PROTECTION_/aml/aml_documents.Par.81686.File.dat/AML_NewLegacy.pdf.  Printed copies may be obtained from the Washington Office, Division of Environmental Quality and Protection (WO-280).

We graciously offer our thanks to all the BLM employees who contributed to the production of this report.

If you have any questions about this document, please contact Erinn Shirley, Acting AML Program Lead, at 202-912-7132 or eshirley@blm.gov.
