UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF THE INTERIORBUREAU OF LAND MANAGEMENTWASHINGTON, D.C. 20240http://www.blm.govNovember 2, 2012 In Reply Refer To:2930 (250) P EMS TRANSMISSION 11/16/2012Information Bulletin No. 2013-013 To:                  All Washington Office and Field Office Officials                       Attn: Recreation Planners From:              Division Chief, Recreation and Visitor Services Subject:          Bureau of Land Management “Fee-Free” Days for the 2013 Season The Bureau of Land Management (BLM), in conjunction with other agencies within the Department of the Interior, will waive recreation-related fees for visitors to the National System of Public Lands on January 21, 2013 (Martin Luther King Jr. Day), September 28, 2013 (National Public Lands Day), and November 9-11, 2013 (Veterans Day Weekend). The “fee-free” requirement only applies to standard amenity fees, though other fees may be waived, if the field office manager deems it appropriate.  For data collection and accountability purposes, a zero-value receipt equivalent to a one-day pass may be issued to those visitors whose fee is waived.We will also distribute “fee-free” coupons to volunteers who participate in the BLM’s National Public Lands Day, September 28, 2013, observance.  Further guidance will be issued at a later date. While other Federal land management agencies may observe “fee-free” other than the dates outlined by the BLM, the BLM field units/fee sites in jointly managed areas, near, or adjacent to other Federal units are encouraged to offer similar fee free access as appropriate.  In general, these fee-free days may waive standard amenity fees and individual day-use fees (such as visitor centers and within National Landscape System units); however, other fees, i.e., those for group day use, overnight camping, and cabin rentals, will remain in effect. For more information about this season’s fee-free days, please visit the BLM Fee-Free Days website.  If you have questions concerning this Information Bulletin, please contact Anthony Bobo, Jr., BLM Recreation Fee and Permit Program Manager, Division of Recreation and Visitor Services (WO-250), at 202-912-7248 or by email at:  Anthony_Bobo@blm.gov.   Signed by:                                                                   Authenticated by:Andy Tenney                                                              Robert M.
