Subject: Availability of Roll-Out, Wooden "Boardwalk" Units to Field Offices Free of Charge DD: 09/30/2010

This summer, the Division of Education, Interpretation, and Partnerships purchased a pressure-treated, roll-out, pine "boardwalk" for use at the main BLM exhibit at the National Boy Scout Jamboree. The sturdy boardwalk, pictured in use in Attachment 1, greatly enhanced site access and visitor safety; it is weather-resistant and conforms to almost any surface.

Since the Washington Office has only limited storage space, we would like to take this opportunity to offer the boardwalk to one or more BLM Field Offices for use on other projects. Field offices are welcome to request any or all of the boardwalk segments, which are described below. Segment sketches and additional information on materials are available on the vendor's website at http://www.misterboardwalk.com.

Straight sections, which may be modified into gently curved segments: 35 units are available, each 23" wide x 10' long x 1" high. Slats are connected by nylon cord. Segments are rolled into bundles approximately 2 feet in diameter. Curved (90 degrees) sections: 4 units are available, each 23" wide by 1" high, with an overall curve area of 52 x 52" Slats are connected by nylon cord.

The boardwalk is being stored temporarily at the BLM Printed Materials Distribution Services (PMDS) warehouse in Denver. If you are interested in obtaining one or more boardwalk sections, please email Shelly Fischman of the Division of Education, Interpretation, and Partnerships at Shelly_Fischman@blm.gov with a short narrative describing your office's intended use for the item(s). Field Offices with the most compelling narrative(s) will receive instructions on how to arrange shipping from PMDS. Shipping charges will be the responsibility of the receiving office(s).
