Subject: Format for Submitting Planning Documents for Washington Office (WO) Review

This Information Bulletin (IB) explains the formats in which planning documents should be submitted to the WO for internal review prior to release to the public. Timely review of planning documents by the WO is greatly facilitated when the relevant documents are provided in the formats identified below.

Preliminary draft Resource Management Plans (RMPs), preliminary proposed RMPs, and RMP amendments analyzed by an environmental impact statement should be submitted in the following formats:

A minimum of two (2) bound paper copies shipped to the WO. Bound paper copies should contain the complete document, including all maps and appendices.

A minimum of five (5) CDs or DVDs shipped to the WO.

A complete copy uploaded to the Planning and National Environmental Policy Act Sharepoint site. Electronic copies on CD/DVD or uploaded to the Sharepoint site should be formatted in a manner which facilitates review and printing of the document as needed.

Plan amendments analyzed by an Environmental Assessment (EA) should be uploaded to the Sharepoint site for informational purposes. While these EA level plan amendments generally do not require WO review, WO-210 should be kept informed of when the amendments are being finalized to assist with scheduling protest workload. Preliminary preparation plans should also be uploaded to the Sharepoint site to facilitate WO review. State Office and Field Office staff submitting documents, disks and e-copies should coordinate with the appropriate WO planning liaison.
