Service, food and fun at Three Peaks 10th anniversary Saturday

CEDAR CITY, Utah – Everyone is invited to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Three Peaks Recreation Area and National Public Lands Day with service, recreation and a meal for the whole community, Saturday, Sept. 24, starting with registration at 7:30 a.m.
Registration will take place at the Three Peaks Mountain Bike Trailhead, followed by trail building, trail signing, site cleanup and radio controlled airport repairs at 8 a.m.
The recreation sites open at 10 a.m. for mountain biking, disc golf, ATV riding, hiking and radio controlled aircraft flights. Participants wanting to indulge in ATV or mountain bike rides must provide their own equipment.
Lunch with Iron County, provided by the Cedar City-Brian Head Travel and Tourism Bureau will be served at noon. The BLM and Iron County are partners in managing and maintaining the Three Peaks Recreation Area in Iron County.
“Three Peaks unites people who love the outdoors and Saturday’s event gives everyone a chance to have fun and take ownership over their public lands,” said Maria Twitchell, Iron County Outdoor Recreation Director, overseeing the county’s portion of Three Peaks and the executive director of the Cedar City-Brian Head Tourism Bureau. “It is fantastic to see how the partnership between the BLM and Iron County could create an amazing set of facilities for residents and visitors that has blossomed for the past decade,”
The National Public Lands Day and 10th anniversary event at Three Peaks includes two world class disc golf courses, ATV trails, mountain bike and hiking trails, an equestrian area, and a radio controlled aircraft field.
“Places like Three Peaks are a dream come true for people who love to be outside,” said Paul Briggs, acting field manager for the BLM’s Cedar City Field Office. “Our partnership with the county and local groups made Three Peaks a destination, which we can all help celebrate on Saturday.”
