PINEDALE, Wyo. — The Bureau of Land Management’s Pinedale Field Office, in partnership with the U.S. Forest Service, will host a National Public Lands Day volunteer event at the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) Ponds in Pinedale on Saturday, Sept. 27, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Community members are invited to lend a hand with brush clearing, trail maintenance, painting, and minor facility repairs. Other tasks may include repairing bluebird houses, stabilizing shoreline fishing access, improving access to footbridges, and staining structures. Volunteers of all skill levels are welcome.

The CCC Ponds, originally developed in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps, are an important part of Pinedale’s history. Reconstructed in the 1990s with themed ponds for wildlife habitat, the site now offers fishing, hiking, biking, wildlife viewing, cross-country skiing, and interpretive features.

“This year’s NPLD is a great opportunity for people who love the CCC Ponds to come together and help maintain this unique site for future generations,” said Stewart Cogswell, Pinedale Field Manager.

Volunteers should bring gloves, sturdy shoes, long pants, a hat, and eye protection. Limited gloves and safety glasses will be provided. Sunscreen, insect repellent, water, and snacks will be available at the site. Participants will also receive giveaways, including Fee-Free Day passes to use at public lands. The event will run until 2 p.m., but volunteers are encouraged to stay as long as they are able.
