Temporary public safety closure

The Bureau of Land Management has approved a one-year temporary closure for an area of approximately 22,987 acres to all forms of public access and entry effective March 25, 2026 at 4:00 p.m. The closure is temporary and limited to a specific area south of State Highway 375 and west of the town of Alamo (see map and closure order.) The closure is subject to re-evaluation pending hazard assessments pursuant to the Federal Land Policy and Management Act of 1976 (FLMPA), as amended, and 43 CFR §8364.1.
 
This closure is necessary to protect persons, property, public lands, resources, and to avoid conflict among public land users.
 
This order does not apply to Federal, State, and local officers and employees in the performance of their official duties; members of organized search and rescue or firefighting forces in the performance of their official duties; and persons with written authorization from the BLM.
 
This order does not apply to activities conducted under contract with the BLM, agency personnel monitoring the event, or activities conducted under an approved plan of operations. Authorized users must have in their possession a written permit or contract from the BLM, signed by the authorized officer.
