Soldier Meadows NPLD
Celebrate National Public Lands Day with us at Soldier Meadows ACEC—a stunning landscape rich in natural and cultural heritage. This special weekend is your chance to connect with the land, meet fellow volunteers, and make a lasting impact through stewardship and service.
Service Projects (September 26, 2026 | 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM):
On Saturday, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), in partnership with Friends of Nevada Wilderness, will lead a variety of hands-on stewardship projects. Volunteers will help repair the public cabin, improve campgrounds, remove old fencing, pick up litter, paint facilities, clear fire pit ash, and participate in educational hikes. These activities are designed for all levels, from light to strenuous, and offer a meaningful way to care for Soldier Meadows.
Volunteer Requirements:
To ensure a safe and productive day, volunteers should be prepared for physical activity, including standing for extended periods, walking across uneven ground, lifting 15–50 lbs., using common hand tools, sanitizing surfaces, painting, and working safely in a group. All necessary equipment—including personal protective gear, tools, and materials—will be provided by the Black Rock Field Office and Friends of Nevada Wilderness. Volunteers must wear protective clothing (pants and long sleeves), closed-toe footwear, and only participate in activities they can safely complete.
What to Bring:
Please bring your own food, water, and sun protection for the day. Volunteers are encouraged to participate as their time and commitment allow—every contribution makes a difference! Breakfast will be served Saturday morning and be ready for a potluck dutch oven cook off on Saturday night. A grab-go-breakfast will be provided Sunday morning.
