$7,000 reward offered for information on killing of young horse
BISHOP, Calif. – A total reward of $7,000 is offered for information leading to arrest and conviction of those who killed a foal in Mono County, California. This includes $2,000 from the Bureau of Land Management and $5,000 from American Wild Horse Conservation.
On June 6, the BLM received a report of a dead foal found on BLM land east of Mono Lake in Mono County, California. The foal was from the Montgomery Pass Wild Horse Herd. While the Inyo National Forest manages this horse herd, the crime took place on BLM-managed land.
BLM law enforcement officers completed the initial investigation with help from multiple local partners including Mono County Sheriff's Office, Inyo County Sheriff's Office, California Department of Fish and Wildlife, and Bishop Veterinary Hospital.
A necropsy determined the foal died from a gunshot wound. The BLM asks anyone with information about this crime to contact the 24-hour WeTip system at 1-800-78-CRIME (1-800-782-7463), www.WeTip.com.
