Event Description

BILLINGS, Mont. — The Bureau of Land Management and Training Wild Burros are scheduled to host two Wild Horse and Burro adoption events in Roundup, Montana.

The first event will be held April 18 from 9 a.m.- 6 p.m., at 3680 US Highway 87 South, Roundup, Montana. An additional adoption event is scheduled for July 25, 9 a.m. - 6 p.m.

This event will provide the public an opportunity to adopt about 15-30 burros. Bids start at just $125. Adoptions from this event will be eligible for Forever Branded’s 2026 Missouri Branded Bonanza, a competition offering an opportunity for trainers to improve their horsemanship and for the animal to gain the skills needed to be successful in their new, domestic life.

“Adopting a wild horse or burro is more than just taking home an animal—it’s about forging an unbreakable bond through patience, training, and trust,” said Patrick Merrill, BLM Montana/Dakotas Wild Horse & Burro Coordinator. “Many adopters say it’s one of the most rewarding experiences of their lives.”
