BLM temporarily closes Marion Creek Falls Trail north of Coldfoot, Alaska
FAIRBANKS, Alaska –The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Central Yukon Field Office temporarily closed the Marion Creek Falls Trail at the Marion Creek Campground at mile 180 of the Dalton Highway as flooding continues to washout part of the trail. For the public’s safety, the trail is closed to public use effective immediately and will remain closed until a reroute is in place.
Heavy rain in the Brooks Range caused high water and flooding along Marion Creek. Sections of the bank have washed out, including part of the Falls Trail. The BLM appreciates the public’s patience as water recedes and a reroute is built. The closure will not impact the National Public Lands Day volunteer event planned for the Falls Trail on September 9.
While the Marion Creek Falls Trail is closed, the BLM manages other areas that remain open to the public. Contact the Arctic Interagency Visitor Center in Coldfoot, Alaska to learn about other hiking opportunities on public lands in the area.
