BLM seeks input for proposed withdrawal extension at Fort Carson
CAÑON CITY, Colo. — The Bureau of Land Management is seeking public comments for a 15-year extension on the exclusive use of 5,650 surface and 141,554 mineral public acres on or near Fort Carson in El Paso County. The current withdrawal of these lands from uses other than military operations expires Sept. 22, 2026.
A notice will publish in tomorrow’s Federal Register to begin a 90-day public comment period, which will end Aug. 12, 2026. The U.S. Army will host a public meeting where the BLM will also share information on the proposed withdrawal and gather comments from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. on July 13 in the Tony Fortina Ballroom at Pueblo Community College, located at 900 W. Orman Ave. Pueblo, CO 81004. the Additional information is available at the BLM National NEPA Register, where comments may be submitted through the “Participate Now” option (preferred).
