BLM seeks input on proposed land sale in Louisiana
FLOWOOD, Miss. — The Bureau of Land Management is seeking public comments on a proposed non-competitive direct land sale of about three public acres in Cameron Parish, La., to Cameron Land Ventures LLC, an affiliate of Venture Global LNG, Inc.
Venture Global seeks to develop a liquefied natural gas hub that has already begun federal permitting. The facility would provide infrastructure for the liquefaction, onsite storage, and export transport of natural gas.
The parcel proposed for sale is currently withdrawn and reserved for lighthouse purposes; however, the United States Coast Guard may relinquish this reservation, offering the Secretary of the Interior the opportunity to revoke the withdrawal. Should the Secretary revoke the withdrawal, the parcel would be available for sale by the BLM for no less than appraised fair market value.
“This proposed land sale would meet energy infrastructure needs while supporting transparency, a fair return to the public, and American Energy Dominance,” said BLM Acting Southeastern States District Manager Shayne Banks.
A notice published in today's Federal Register opens a 45-day public comment period, which will close July 16, 2026. Additional information is available at the BLM National NEPA Register, where comments may be submitted through the “Participate Now” option. Comments may also be emailed to [email protected] or delivered to: Bureau of Land Management, Attn: Calcasieu Pass, 273 Market Street, Flowood, MS 39232.
