BLM reopens certain public lands near black rock fire
Prineville, OR — The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has lifted the emergency closure for certain public lands in the Prineville District previously restricted due to the Black Rock Fire.
Starting Saturday, September 13 at 8:00 AM, BLM-managed lands on both sides of the John Day River north of the North Pole Ridge Wilderness Study Area, including Armstrong Canyon Road and the Thirtymile Recreation Area, will reopen to public access.
The remaining lands included in the original closure, such as Clarno Road north of Highway 218 and nearby dispersed camping areas, will reopen on Monday, September 15 at 8:00 AM.
Visitors are reminded to follow all existing land use rules and fire restrictions when recreating in the area.
