BLM receives right-of-way application for proposed Ridgeline Expansion Pipeline in Tennessee
On March 20, 2025, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) received an Application for Transportation and Utility Systems on Public Lands (SF-299) from East Tennessee Natural Gas, LCC, requesting permission to construct the proposed Ridgeline Expansion Pipeline under a right-of-way authorization.
The project would allow the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) to improve and convert its Kingston Fossil Plant from coal to liquified natural gas. The 122-mile natural gas pipeline would traverse eight counties in central and eastern Tennessee and crosses lands administered by the TVA and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Under the Mineral Leasing Act, the BLM has responsibility for granting a right-of-way and temporary use permit for a pipeline through federal lands managed by two or more federal agencies.
Information about the right-of-way application can be found at the Federal Register link below.
The BLM manages about 245 million acres of public land located primarily in 12 western states, including Alaska, on behalf of the American people. The BLM also administers 700 million acres of sub-surface mineral estate throughout the nation. Our mission is to sustain the health, diversity, and productivity of America’s public lands for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations.
