BLM Issues Temporary Closure of 17 Mile Recreation Area
BILLINGS, Mont. — The Bureau of Land Management’s Billings Field Office has issued a temporary closure of all recreational target shooting at the 17‑Mile Recreation Area.
The closure will be in place from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 13, 2026, to ensure public health and safety during scheduled site work. Under the closure order, entering or using the area is prohibited.
The affected area includes public lands within Township 3 North, Range 26 East, Sections 4, 8, 9, and 10. The BLM will post notices at both information kiosks within the 17‑Mile Recreation Area and along the fence line at the closure boundary.
