BLM issues decision on 2026-2027 Northwest Oregon District sample tree felling
The Bureau of Land Management Northwest Oregon District has issued a decision record for a categorical exclusion to implement 2026-2027 sample tree felling. Sample trees are a small subset (typically one tree per acre) of the trees designated for removal in planned timber harvest areas. Sample tree felling includes felling, bucking, and scaling sample trees to ensure the accuracy of timber sale cruises for future forest management actions.
Sample tree felling will be conducted during fiscal years 2026-2027 across all of the BLM Northwest Oregon District's field offices (Cascades, Marys Peak, Siuslaw, Tillamook, and Upper Willamette). The categorical exclusion and decision record can be found on the ePlanning website at 2026-2027 Northwest Oregon District Sample Tree Felling.
