BOISE, Idaho– The Bureau of Land Management Idaho has issued its annual Fire Prevention Order, effective May 10 through October 20, to reduce human-caused wildfires. The order prohibits fireworks, exploding targets, tracer and steel-component ammunition, shooting at steel or ferrous targets, and burning explosive materials on BLM-managed lands in Idaho.

Violations may result in fines and liability for fire suppression and rehabilitation costs. Preventing human‑caused wildfires is a top priority, and taking simple precautions helps protect Idaho’s public lands from wildfire.

Each year, thousands of acres are lost to preventable wildfires. Please:

  • Avoid target shooting during hot, dry, or windy conditions.
  • Secure trailer chains and maintain tires.
  • Clear campfire areas to bare soil and never leave fires unattended.

Together, we can protect Idaho’s public lands from wildfire. For details on the Fire Prevention Order and current fire restrictions, visit Idaho - Fire Restrictions | Bureau of Land Management
