BLM to host World Migratory Bird Day at Provolt Recreation Area May 9
Event Description
MEDFORD, Ore. — The Bureau of Land Management Medford District and the Applegate Partnership and Watershed Council invite the public to celebrate World Migratory Bird Day at the Provolt Recreation Area on Saturday, May 9.
This family-friendly event offers a unique opportunity to connect with nature and learn about the importance of migratory birds and their habitats.
“This event is a wonderful opportunity for our community to come together, explore the Provolt Recreation Site, and learn about the incredible journeys birds make each year,” said Justin Kelly, Grants Pass Field Manager. “We’re excited to offer a fun, family-friendly event that connects people to the landscapes and wildlife we all share.”
Guided bird walks will be held at 8, 9, and 10:00 a.m., giving participants the opportunity to observe and learn about local and migratory bird species.
From 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., attendees can explore family-friendly activities and educational booths hosted by local organizations. Activities will highlight bird conservation, habitat stewardship, and ways the community can support migratory species. As a special exhibit, Wildlife Images will have live birds onsite from 10 a.m.to noon, where visitors can get an up-close look at these incredible species.
This free event is open to all ages. Participants are encouraged to bring binoculars, comfortable walking shoes, and a sense of curiosity.
