BLM to convey 7,612 acres to the City of Fernley in northern Lyon County
CARSON CITY, Nev. – The Bureau of Land Management will soon convey fifteen parcels of public land totaling approximately 7,612 acres to the City of Fernley in Lyon County as directed in the Howard P. “Buck” McKeon National Defense Authorization Act and consistent with the Recreation and Public Purposes Act.
The parcels are part of a “checkerboard” pattern of public and private ownership adjacent to the I‑80 corridor. Twelve parcels, about 5,286 acres, are within the BLM’s Carson City District. The remaining three parcels, about 2,326 acres, are within the Winnemucca District.
