BLM Colorado lifts land closure in Rio Blanco County
Meeker, Colo — Effective immediately, the Bureau of Land Management has lifted the fire closure for the Lee Fire, following improved conditions and successful suppression efforts.
The closure was necessary to ensure public safety and allow fire personnel to conduct operations without interference. Recent assessments have confirmed that fire activity has diminished significantly, and the area is now safe for public access.
“We appreciate the public’s cooperation and understanding during the closure,” said William Mills, Field Manager for White River Field Office. “Thanks to the efforts of our firefighters and partners, we’re now able to reopen the area for recreation and other uses.”
Although the closure has been lifted, visitors are urged to remain cautious. Some hazards may still exist, including:
- Unstable trees (snags)
- Loose rocks or debris
- Smoldering stump holes
- Damaged trails or infrastructure
