BLM closes Muddy Mountain Road for winter 2026
Event Description
CASPER, Wyo. – The Bureau of Land Management has closed Muddy Mountain Road for the winter, effective today, Jan. 6, 2026.
This seasonal closure occurs each year due to winter weather and road conditions. The road will reopen in the spring when conditions improve.
Muddy Mountain Road is the main access route to the Muddy Mountain Environmental Education Area (EEA), two campgrounds, several trails, and public lands managed by the Bureau of Land Management.
Although the road is closed for the winter, the Muddy Mountain area remains open for snowmobiling on designated state trails.
