EUGENE, Ore. — Beginning Sept. 24, public access to the Horse Rock Ridge Area of Environmental Concern (ACEC) will be temporarily closed for public safety. The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) will close access to the area during road construction operations for a timber sale.

“Public safety is our top priority,” said Christopher Finn, BLM Upper Willamette Field Office Manager. “This closure will last until approximately October 31, and the public can expect additional information about other closures during the three-year timber sale contract.”

The location of the closure area is about eight miles north of Marcola, past the Cascade View Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) Complex of the Shotgun Creek OHV trail system. It includes BLM Road No. 15-2-1, a section of Road No. 15-1-18.2 adjacent to project operations and BLM-administered lands adjacent to the project, including access to the Horse Rock Ridge ACEC-Research Natural Area.
