BLM Authorizes Oil Wells in Uinta County
The Bureau of Land Management Vernal Field Office has issued an Environmental Assessment for the Moonshadow West Oil Wells: DOI-BLM-UT-G010-2026-0117-EA. The Responsible Official signed a decision record under which the BLM will authorize six Applications for Permit to Uinta Wax Operating LLC (the applicant) to drill oil wells. The environmental assessment analyzed potential non-surface effects from drilling six wells from an existing well pad. The project location is approximately 4.3 linear miles southeast of Roosevelt, Utah in Section 20, Township 2 South, Range 1 East, U.S.M., Uintah County, Utah. The surface is privately owned but the wells will extract Indian Trust minerals from existing leases. The decision record can be found at: https://eplanning.blm.gov/Project-Home/?id=AF19BB5C-F75D-F111-BEC6-001DD8029ED0. For more information, please contact the Vernal Field Office at 435-781-4400.
