BLM Approves Three New Oil Wells for Three LB Tribal Project
The Bureau of Land Management Vernal Field Office has issued an Environmental Assessment (EA) for the Three LB Tribal Oil Wells: DOI-BLM-UT-G010-2026-0042-EA. The Authorized Officer signed a decision record under which the BLM will approve three Applications for Permit to Drill for the applicant, Finley Resources Inc, to drill oil wells producing from Indian Trust minerals. The well pad and supporting infrastructure already exist on private surface and are therefore not part of the BLM action subject to its decision. The project location is in the NENE Section 16, Township 4 South, Range 1 East, U.S.M., on private (fee) surface near Leeland Bench in Uintah County, Utah.

The Authorized Officer signed a decision record under which the BLM will approve ten Applications for Permit to Drill for the applicant, SM Energy, to drill oil wells producing from Indian Trust minerals. The well pad and supporting infrastructure already exist on private surface and are therefore not part of the BLM action subject to its decision. The project location is in the SENE Section 13, Township 2 South Range 4 West, U.S.M., on private (fee) surface in Duchesne County, Utah.

Finley Resources Receives Approval for Canvasback Tribal Oil Well Permits
The Bureau of Land Management Vernal Field Office has issued an Environmental Assessment (EA) for the Canvasback Tribal Oil Wells: DOI-BLM-UT-G010-2026-0039-EA. The Authorized Officer signed a decision record under which the BLM will approve nine Applications for Permit to Drill for the applicant, Finley Resources Inc, to drill oil wells producing from Indian Trust minerals. The well pad and supporting infrastructure would be built entirely on private surface so only non-surface effects of the proposed action on those lands were analyzed as subject to the BLM decision. The project location is approximately fourteen linear miles southeast of Myton, Utah in Section 24, Township 4 South, Range 1 East, U.S.M on private (fee) surface in Uintah County, Utah.

The Authorized Officer signed a decision record under which the BLM will renew a Special Recreation Permit for the applicant, Western Fly Fishers, to conduct permitted trips on the Green River. The project location is in Daggett County, Utah.
