BLM Approves Restoration and Monitoring Projects at Grand Staircase‑Escalante National Monument
Gulch Stream Restoration Monitoring:
The Grand Staircase‑Escalante National Monument has issued a decision for the Gulch Stream Restoration Monitoring project. The decision authorizes short‑duration drone flights conducted by Utah State University, in collaboration with The Nature Conservancy and the BLM, to collect pre‑restoration and as‑built imagery. These flights will occur from existing disturbed areas, with portions of the survey conducted within the Wilderness Study Area, and are fully authorized as temporary, nondestructive monitoring activities.
