The Bureau of Land Management Vernal Field Office has issued an Environmental Assessment (EA) for the Mallard Oil Wells: DOI-BLM-UT-G010-2026-0047-EA. The Authorized Officer signed a decision record under which the BLM will approve two Applications for Permit to Drill for the applicant, Finley Resources Inc, to drill oil wells producing from Indian Trust minerals. The well pad and associated infrastructure (i.e. pipelines and access roads) will be constructed on lands outside BLM jurisdiction, but non-surface effects of the proposed disturbance were analyzed as indirect effects proposed action. The EA also analyzed drilling of up to seven additional wells from the same location in the future for a total of nine. The project location is on private land in the SWSW Section 24, Township 4 South, Range 1 East, U.S.M., on private surface near Leeland Bench in Uintah County, Utah.

The decision record can be found at: https://eplanning.blm.gov/Project-Home/?id=D23472B7-2609-F111-8406-001DD80F706C
