BLM Approves Nine-Mile Temporary Waterline for Anschutz Exploration

The BLM Vernal Field Office has issued a Categorical Exclusion documentation for the Remington-Bierstadt Temporary Waterline: DOI-BLM-UT-G010-2026-0038-CX. The Authorized Officer signed a decision record under which the BLM will amend an existing right-of-way for the applicant, Anschutz Exploration, to install temporary surface lay flat waterlines to transport water for approved completion operations on the permitted Bierstadt and Remington Well Pads. The project location is along 9 miles of existing county-claimed roads (Saddler Tree Wash Road) and approved lease roads in Uintah County, Utah.

New Federal Oil Well Permits Authorized for Uintah County Development

The BLM Vernal Field Office has issued an Environmental Assessment for the 1 & 9-29D-6-20 Oil Wells: DOI-BLM-UT-G010-2026-0022-EA. The Authorized Officer signed a decision record under which the BLM will approve two Applications for Permit to Drill for the applicant, Robert L. Bayless, Producer LLC, to drill oil wells producing from federal minerals. Two well pads and supporting infrastructure (i.e. pipelines and access roads) would be built on surface withdrawn to the Bureau of Reclamation. The project locations are in Section 29 and the E2 of Section 30, Township 6 South, Range 20 East in Uintah County, Utah.

Coyote Shuttle Granted Special Recreation Permit for Desolation and Gray Canyons

The BLM has approved a Special Recreation Permit for Coyote Shuttle to provide shuttle services for Desolation/Gray Canyon boaters within the BLM Price Field Office, operating from Sand Wash to Swasey’s boat ramps along designated routes, including Sand Wash Road, Wrinkles Road, and Nine Mile Canyon Road.

Coyote Shuttle has not previously held a permit with the BLM Price Field Office; however, the company currently maintains an active shuttle-service permit with the Moab Field Office. The newly approved SRP will be issued for one year, with a renewal authorization of up to ten years if all stipulations are met. Both standard statewide stipulations and site-specific stipulations will apply to the permit.
