BLM Approves 25 New Oil and Gas Wells and a Temporary Lay Flat Waterline in Utah
Double E Ute Oil Wells:
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Vernal Field Office has issued a Decision Record for the Double E Ute Oil Wells: DOI-BLM-UT-G010-2026-0212-EA. The Responsible Official signed a decision record approving Applications for Permit to Drill which authorize FourPoint Resources LLC (the applicant) to drill up to 21 oil wells from the approved Double E Ute Well Pad to produce from their existing federal and Indian Trust mineral leases. The BLM relied on the Environmental Assessment U&O-FY26-071-EA prepared by the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) which approved the rights-of-way for the well pad and associated surface infrastructure. The project location is on BIA-administered lands in in Township 3 South, Range 1 West, Section 20 (SLB&M) in Duchesne County, Utah. Pyramid Well Pad:
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Vernal Field Office has issued an Environmental Assessment (EA) for the Pyramid Well Pad: DOI-BLM-UT-G010-2026-0163-EA. The Responsible Official signed a decision record approving four Applications for Permit to Drill authorizing Anschutz Exploration Corporation (the applicant) to horizontally drill up to four natural gas wells from the Pyramid State 1223 Well Pad. The EA also analyzed non-surface effects of constructing the pad with associated infrastructure (a powerline, access road, and pipeline corridor) on TLA-administered surface. The project location is located approximately 47 linear miles southeast of Vernal, Utah, in Section 2, Township 12 South, Range 23 East, S.L.B.&M., Uintah County, Utah. The BLM decision only applies to project portions on lands and minerals under its administration. TRF 8-46T-820 Lay Flat Pipeline:
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Vernal Field Office has issued Categorical Exclusion (CE) documentation for the TRF 8-46T-820 Lay Flat Pipeline: DOI-BLM-UT-G010-2026-0191-EA. The Responsible Official signed a decision record approving a right-of-way which authorizes Vaquero Uinta LLC (the applicant) to install a temporary 16‑inch lay flat waterline to support approved recompletion operations on the Three Rivers Fed 8‑46T‑820 well. The project location is in Sections 3 and 8, Township 8 South, Range 20 East S.L.B.&M. of Uintah County, Utah and contains BLM-administered and private lands.
