BLM announces winter, holiday hours for Paria River District visitor centers

KANAB, Utah — The Bureau of Land Management has begun winter season operating hours for the Paria River District’s visitor centers and contact station, effective until mid-March.  

Winter hours of operation and closures are as follows: 

Paria Contact Station, is closed for the season and will remain closed until mid-March.  

Visitors seeking Paria Canyon Overnight Permits may pick them up at the Paria River District Office, located at 669 S. Highway 89-A, Kanab, UT 84741, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday (excluding federal holidays). 

Escalante Interagency Visitor Center is open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, until March 11, 2026. 

Kanab Visitor Center is open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Sunday. 

Big Water Visitor Center is open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Friday through Tuesday. 

Cannonville Visitor Center, is closed and will remain closed until further notice.  

 

All BLM Paria River District buildings will be closed to the public for the following federal holidays: 

  • Nov. 28, Thanksgiving 

  • Dec. 24 through Jan. 1, Christmas and New Year's Day holidays  

  • Jan. 20, Martin Luther King Day

  • Feb. 17, Presidents’ Day
