BLM to Address Nuisance Stallion Following Repeated Private Land Incursions
(BILLINGS, Mont.) — The Bureau of Land Management has initiated the administrative process to remove a single wild stallion from the Pryor Mountain Wild Horse Range following repeated breaches of range boundaries and aggressive behavior toward domestic livestock and private property owners.
The stallion will be held at the Britton Springs corrals pending its permanent removal from the range.
The action follows two separate incidents in which the stallion escaped the PMWHR on May 7 and May 10, 2026. Despite ongoing agency efforts to reinforce and repair weak points in the range fencing, the horse continued to seek forage on adjacent private lands.
