Blasting operations at BLM Horse Rock Quarry, Friday, Sept. 5
SALEM, Ore. — Bureau of Land Management officials are alerting the public that blast operations will occur at Horse Rock Quarry midday Friday.
“People may hear the blasting from several miles away,” said Dennis Teitzel, BLM Northwest Oregon District Manager. “There is no need to be alarmed, but visitors need to stay away from the area for their own safety.”
The quarry is eight miles north of Marcola, near Shotgun Creek Off-Highway Vehicle area. It is near BLM Road No. 15-1-18.2 and visitors to the surrounding area will find warning signs posted.
The BLM manages about 245 million acres of public land located primarily in 12 western states, including Alaska, on behalf of the American people. The BLM also administers 700 million acres of sub-surface mineral estate throughout the nation.
