From Canon City take West about 25 miles. Turn right (North) onto Fremont County Road 27 (Look for the Texas Creek Store). Proceed over bridge and continue about a ½ mile and follow sign for OHV parking. From Salida Head east out of town on E Rainbow Blvd/US-50 E. Continue approximately 31.1 miles to Fremont County Road 27. Turn north on Fremont County Road 27 to access trails.
Texas Creek offers 45 miles of Off-Highway vehicle (OHV) trails featuring variations in scenery and terrain along with views of mines and unique rock features. Trail riders can explore the gulch and fields east of Table Mountain, or ride narrow, rugged, advanced trails along switchbacks and cliff edges to ascend the peak. Rising 3,000 feet above the Arkansas River Valley, Texas Creek provides excellent views of the Sangre De Cristo mountains to the southwest. Mule deer, bighorn sheep, and elk are also regularly seen in this area.
OHV trail users must register their vehicle. Vehicle registrations, renewals, and out-of-state vehicle permits fund trail maintenance and construction, trailheads, parking areas, trail signs, maps, and land acquisition. Learn how to register your vehicle through Colorado Parks and Wildlife.
The parking area has a vault toilet, an information kiosk, and space for trailers. Dispersed camping is permitted, but no services are available. For more information, please contact the Royal Gorge Field Office.
