Edson Creek Campground (OR) | Oregon
Overview
Edson Creek Campground features open meadow style camping. It is located near a beautiful meandering creek that flows into the Sixes River.
Recreation
Camping, fishing, boating, sightseeing, and water play are all popular activities at the campground. A day use area and boat ramp are located across the road from the main campground, providing a place to launch boats and fish the Sixes River.
Facilities
Edson Creek Campground provides 27 campsites and 5 group sites. All five of the group sites are reservable. Four of the group sites (B-E) are located across the creek from the main campground via a seasonal bridge. Group site A is near the main campground. This provides a private camping area for groups of up to 25 people in each site.
Campground includes picnic tables, fire rings, and accessible toilets.
Natural Features
Tall red alder and myrtlewood trees flank the open meadows at Edson. The water and forest that surrounds the campground are home to many fish and wildlife species.
Nearby Attractions
The area provides warm temperatures and easy access to nearby coastal attractions. Cape Blanco Lighthouse, New River Nature Center, Oregon State Parks, and several coastal beaches are nearby.

Accessibility Description (ABA/ADA)
Cell phone coverage is poor at this site.
Signs with site and fee information, a pay station, and a water spigot are located near the camp host’s site by the main entrance. The spigot, operated with an easy-to-use paddle valve, sits in a grassy area of uneven ground that may be challenging for people in wheelchairs.
A gravel road runs through the western portion of the campground, which includes 27 individual campsites. Campsites 1-18 are in an open meadow; campsites 20-27, on the other side of the road, are on flatter, less uneven terrain. Each campsite has room for parking on the grass, and at all the campsites, concrete tables with recessed legs to accommodate wheelchair users and fire rings with grill attachments sit on grass or dirt.
Campsites 20-24, on relatively flat ground, are designated as accessible. Some of the ground surface near these sites may be uneven and challenging for visitors who have limited mobility or who use mobility devices.
To the east are 5 group campsites, reached through a gate off the frontage road. Group site A is on the near side of Edson Creek. Sites B-E are across the Creek and can only be reached by a bridge during the low-water period from June through late September.
The site has 4 double vault toilets. There are 2 in the western portion of the campground, near campsites 20 and 25, and 2 near the group sites—1 next to site A, and 1 across Edson Creek near sites B-E. Although the interior of these toilets is considered to be accessible, lips caused by erosion could make it challenging for some people with limited mobility to get inside.
Descriptions and photos uploaded May 2026. Please note that actual on-the-ground conditions may vary due to natural events (e.g., weather, wildfires, erosion), normal wear and tear, or site improvements.
