Devil's Corral Trailhead

Overview

The Devil's Corral Trailhead is located on the Bizz Johnson National Recreation Trail (non-motorized ) 7 miles west of Susanville. It can also be reached by driving west from Susanville 7 miles on California Highway 36. The Bizz Johnson Trail is an old railroad grade and has a dirt and graveled surface. The trailhead has a picnic table and vault toilet.

The Devil's Corral trailhead provides easy access to the Bizz Johnson Trail and Southside trail and to swimming and fishing in the Susan River.  These trails are popular with bicyclists, hikers and horseback riders and provide great views of the scenic Susan River.  In winter cross country skiers and snowshoers also enjoy the trail when there is enough snow for these activities.  Call BLM, 530-257-0456, to check current conditions.

Visitors often shuttle to the Devil's Corral Trailhead then bike or hike the 7 miles back to the Hobo Camp and Susanville Trailheads on either the Bizz Johnson Trail or South Side Trail.  Lassen Rural Bus, 530-252-7433, provides regular service to the Devil’s Corral trailhead on its way to Westwood and Chester three times per day, Monday through Friday and twice on Saturdays and can haul up to 9 bicycles.  Call to confirm current schedules and bus stops.
