Public Input & Actions

BLM publishes proposed and final rules in the Federal Register and carries out environmental reviews in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act. Announcing and explaining bureau plans and proposals and providing the public an opportunity to comment on proposed actions is an important part of informed management. We encourage citizens to make their voices heard on the issues that are important to them.

The Bureau of Land Management is seeking public comment on a proposed mining project for the Persistence Mine operation in San Bernardino County, Calif. Gold Discovery Group has requested approval of their plan of operations for a 128-acre placer gold mining operation on BLM-managed public land in the Atolia area.

BLM seeks input on proposed geothermal leasing in southern Idaho

The Bureau of Land Management is seeking input on proposed geothermal leasing of five parcels totaling approximately 19,596 acres across Blaine, Camas, and Cassia counties. The comment period will end Aug. 29, 2025. Leasing of these parcels will allow lessees to explore the potential for future geothermal development.

BLM seeks input on potential new campground

The BLM Richfield Field Office is seeking public comments on a proposed new campground east of Torrey, off Beas Lewis Flat Rd. The area is popular for dispersed camping due to proximity to Capitol Reef National Park.

BLM issues emergency area closure due to Vees Fire in Washakie County

The Bureau of Land Management Worland Field Office has issued an emergency closure of public lands in Washakie County affected by the Vees Fire to ensure public and firefighter safety during active suppression efforts.
