Public Input & Actions

BLM publishes proposed and final rules in the Federal Register and carries out environmental reviews in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act. Announcing and explaining bureau plans and proposals and providing the public an opportunity to comment on proposed actions is an important part of informed management. We encourage citizens to make their voices heard on the issues that are important to them.

BLM issues final analysis for mineral exploration in Inyo County

The Bureau of Land Management issued the final environmental impact statement analyzing proposed exploratory drilling on approximately 13 acres of public lands south of Lone Pine in Inyo County. If approved, Mojave Precious Metals Inc. could search for mineral deposits, including gold, on public lands where they currently hold mining claims.

BLM Utah authorized expanding the Green Beetle Quarry in Box Elder County and approved holiday tree lights for the Moab Office of Tourism near Slickrock Trail.

The Bureau of Land Management is preparing to conduct pile burns in locations managed by the Royal Gorge and San Luis Valley field offices to promote forest ecosystem health and reduce the risk of catastrophic wildfire.

BLM seeks input for timber project near Gold Hill, schedules public meeting

The BLM is asking for input on proposed forest management activities near Gold Hill. The Queens Gold project proposes commercial thinning and hazardous fuels reduction on approximately 4,000 acres of BLM-administered lands.

BLM protects upper 8th Street in foothills with annual winter road closure

The BLM would like to remind the public of the annual seasonal road closure of upper 8th Street in the Boise Foothills to prevent road damage during wet conditions. This seasonal closure pertains only to full-sized vehicles and is in effect from Dec. 1 to May 15. The closure begins 2.8 miles from the Jim Hall Foothills Learning Center.

Christmas tree permits available in Wyoming

Christmas tree permits are available online. The cost for a permit is $7.50 to $10 per tree, depending on location. Up to a maximum of five Christmas trees can be purchased by an individual for personal use.
