Public Input & Actions

BLM publishes proposed and final rules in the Federal Register and carries out environmental reviews in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act. Announcing and explaining bureau plans and proposals and providing the public an opportunity to comment on proposed actions is an important part of informed management. We encourage citizens to make their voices heard on the issues that are important to them.

BLM Offers American Sign Language Guided Hike on Headwaters Salmon Pass Trail

ARCATA, Calif. – The Bureau of Land Management is inviting the public to experience the majestic beauty of ancient redwood stands along the Salmon Pass Trail just south of the city of Fortuna in Humboldt County, through a guided hiked featuring American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation.  The hike is designed to expand access to public lands and welcome Deaf and hard-of-hearing community members, as well as anyone interested in a shared outdoor experience.

BLM Approves Projects to Improve Forest Health and Reduce Wildfire Risk in the Fall River Valley

ALTURAS, Calif. – The Bureau of Land Management Applegate Field Office has approved two forest resilience projects in the Fall River Valley, aimed at improving forest health, reducing wildfire risk, and strengthening community preparedness. Work on both projects is expected to begin in fall 2026.
