REDDING, Calif. -- A shooting area along Iron Mountain Road in the Keswick Area west of Redding will be temporarily closed to shooting Tuesday through Thursday, Feb. 16-18, while crews from the Bureau of Land Management area working in the area.

The area will reopen for shooting Friday, Feb. 19.

The crews will be collecting soil samples needed for the BLM's development of a storm water management plan required by the Central Valley Water Quality Control Board.  The plan is required to prevent water containing high levels of lead running off site into surface waters.

The BLM manages more than 245 million acres of public land located primarily in 12 western states, including Alaska, on behalf of the American people. The BLM also administers 700 million acres of sub-surface mineral estate throughout the nation.
