Temporary closure of public lands for Parker Races

LAKE HAVASU CITY, Ariz. – The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Lake Havasu Field Office announced the temporary closure of selected public lands for the annual running of the Parker 250 and Parker 425 off-highway vehicle desert races.  The GMZ Utility Terrain Vehicle Winter Nationals Parker 250 race will be held Jan. 6-7, and the BlueWater Resort Parker 425 race will be held Feb. 3-5. 

 

The Parker 250 race closure is in effect from 2 p.m.,Jan. 6, through 6 p.m. on  Jan. 8.  The Parker 425 race closure is in effect from 2 p.m. on Feb. 3, through 2 a.m. Feb. 5.  The closures will help ensure public safety and prevent unnecessary environmental degradation during these permitted events.

 

All public lands located on the interior of the race course, except access to the spectator areas, will be closed.  The spectator areas are located on the south side of Shea Road and also at the Bouse “Y”, at the intersection of Butler Valley Ranch Road and Swansea Road.  All county-maintained roads and highways located within two miles of the designated course’s perimeter will also be closed. 

 

Maps and information regarding the designated race courses and impacted closure areas are available at the Lake Havasu Field Office located at 1785 Kiowa Ave., in Lake Havasu City.
