CAÑON CITY, Colo. - The Royal Gorge Fire was reported at 1 p.m.  Tuesday, south of the Royal Gorge Bridge and Arkansas River continues to burn several miles west of Canon City.

Three structures have been confirmed lost.

Mandatory Evacuations are in effect from the Canon City Water Treatment facility west to Parkdale. Highway 50 is closed in both directions from Canon City, west  to Parkdale.

MEDIA PRESS CONFERENCE:

A media press conference will be held at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, at the Canon City Daily Record Offices, 701 South 9th street, Canon City, Colorado, 81212. 

The fire acreage will be updated at that time. As of 4 p..m. the had burned more than 300 acres.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Updates will be provided when more information is available.
