Penitente Canyon campgrounds closed for 12 Hours of Penitence event

MONTE VISTA, Colo. – The campground at Penitente Canyon will be temporarily closed Oct. 16-18 for the upcoming 12 Hours of Penitence mountain bike endurance race, permitted through the BLM San Luis Valley Field Office. Alternative locations for developed camping are the Poso and Storm King campgrounds managed by the US Forest Service. Dispersed camping is available on BLM managed public lands throughout the San Luis Valley.
