Motorcycle races coming to Fort Sage area; some trail access will be limited

DOYLE, Calif. – Up to 200 riders are expected to participate in a series of motorcycle races Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 14-15, at the Fort Sage Off-Highway Vehicle Area near Doyle. Trail access will only be available to participants while the races are underway.
Due to precautions associated with preventing spread of COVID-19, the race pit area and start/finish line will only be open to participants, their families and support teams.
“We will be using a racecourse developed last year to avoid vehicle impacts to areas burned in the 2018 Long Valley Fire,” said Emily Ryan, manager of the Bureau of Land Management Eagle Lake Field Office in Susanville. “The challenging racecourse avoids areas where grasses and shrubs are coming back after the burn. We are pleased to provide this site for competitive dirt bike riders.”
The Fort Sage event is organized by District 36 of the American Motorcyclist Association and Cross-Country Promotions, which holds a special recreation permit from the BLM. The organizers will provide course marshals, and the BLM will provide law enforcement rangers and staff to help monitor the event.
