WINNEMUCCA, Nev. — The Humboldt River Field Office is temporarily closing Water Canyon Campground Road due to treacherous driving conditions. The closure will go into effect January 11, 2022.

Multiple cars have slid off the road due to icy driving conditions.  All campers currently at the site, have relocated to other areas and the Humboldt River Field Office Management is also suggesting that other recreational traffic stay out of the canyon until it reopens.

The road will be monitored daily and reopen when the road conditions improve. For more information, please call 775-623-1567. Staff will send out a notification as soon as the road reopens.
