TWIN FALLS, ID –  Twin Falls District (Bureau of Land Management) and the Sawtooth National Forest will remove the Stage One Fire Restrictions in areas of Twin Falls, Cassia, Camas, Blaine, and parts of Custer counties located in Zones One and Four.  Zone One includes the area north of Highway 20 into the Stanley Basin; west of Highway 26 and east of Hill City.  Zone Four includes the areas south of I-84 and I-86 to the Idaho/Nevada border and east of Highway 93.  The removal of Stage One Fire Restrictions will go into effect at 12:01 a.m. on Sept. 12, 2016.  To view a map of these areas, please visit www.idahofireinfo.com.

Cooler temperatures, shorter days and recent moisture have lowered the threat of wildfire, and removed the need for open burning restrictions.  However, fire managers would like to remind the public that the accidental start of a wildfire can still be devastating.

Be alert, be aware and follow these tips to help prevent wildfire:

  • Never leave a camp fire unattended.
  • Keep water, dirt and a shovel near your fire at all times
  • Make sure your fire is dead out and cold to the touch before you leave it
  • Never use fireworks, exploding targets or tracer rounds on or near public land
