(DILLON, Mont.) – The Bureau of Land Management’s Dillon Field Office would like public feedback on a Plan of Operations for placer mining along Rochester Creek in Madison County, west of Twin Bridges.

The operator plans on mining approximately 2,500 feet of Rochester Creek, processing about 40,000 cubic yards of gravel to recover gold from patented and unpatented mining claims. The area to be mined is located in T. 2 S., R. 7 W., Sections 29 and 32.

Although comments will be accepted at any time throughout the process, those submitted by April 6 will be most helpful in the development of the BLM’s Environmental Assessment. To be considered, all comments must contain the name and address of the submitter.

Comments should be sent to: BLM Dillon Field Office, 1005 Selway Drive, Dillon MT, 59725 or by e-mail to Keith Johnson  at kjohnson@blm.gov.

Before including your address, phone number, email address, or other personal identifying information in your comment, you should be aware that your entire comment – including your personal identifying information – may be made publicly available at any time.  While you can ask us in your comment to withhold your personal identifying information from public review, we cannot guarantee that we will be able to do so.
