Celebrating Labor Day on BLM-managed public lands

SALT LAKE CITY — For many, Labor Day weekend marks the final summer getaway, typically resulting in increased visitation to public lands managed by the Bureau of Land Management. As you plan your outdoor activities, BLM Utah urges responsible recreation.
"As visitors enjoy the natural wonders that BLM Utah has to offer this Labor Day weekend, we urge the public to put safety and stewardship at the forefront," said State Director Gregory Sheehan. "Let's make this holiday a safe and enjoyable experience for all."
Visitors should be prepared to Know Before You Go, Leave No Trace, and practice Fire Sense during their holiday weekend on BLM-managed public lands. One easy way to get familiar with these best practices is to seek advice from BLM staff. You can plan your trip and learn more about how to safely recreate on BLM-managed lands by visiting blm.gov/utah, calling a field office, or visiting a ranger station in person. Rangers can provide the most up-to-date information on road conditions, campfire restrictions and other safety-related information.
Most BLM Utah offices will be closed Sept. 4 in observance of the federal holiday. Fire personnel, law enforcement officers and recreation staff will be patrolling over the long weekend. Prepare for Labor Day by exploring activities on blm.gov/utah and understanding the seven principles of Leave No Trace at lnt.org.
