California Trail Interpretive Center to Host Reception for Art Exhibit, “Nevada Wild”

ELKO, Nev. – The California Trail Interpretive Center is hosting a reception for its temporary art exhibit, “Nevada Wild: An Exhibition by the Elko Art Club.”
The free reception will take place June 2, 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and will include coffee and deserts. Artists will share their stories and inspirations behind their artwork.
The event will highlight Elko County Art Club Artist Lynne Kistler, as she officially signs her mural titled, “Hastings Cutoff.” The 14-foot mural is located in the Trail Center’s South Fork Room.
Kistler will be joined by professional artists from the Elko County Art Club, including Mark Hayward, Dave Patton, Gary and Susanne Reese, Glen Ellen Finley, Patty Fox, Paul Noland, Darcy Tate, Ellen Trevort, Larry Hyslop, Erika Schaubach, Cheryl Bishop, Jacob and Beth Petzold.
“Nevada Wild” includes 45 paintings, photographs and sculptures by local artists. The exhibit runs through June 10, and includes artistic expressions focused on Nevada landscapes and wildlife.
The exhibit was made possible in part by support from a Trail Center partner, the Southern Nevada Conservancy.
The California Trail Interpretive Center is located eight miles west of Elko on I-80, Hunter exit 292. The Center is open Wednesday through Sunday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Admission is free.
