VALE, Ore. — The Bureau of Land Management’s Southeast Oregon Resource Advisory Council (RAC) will meet in person in Lakeview, Ore., Tuesday and Wednesday, Oct. 17-18.
The public is welcome to attend this meeting, which will be held at the Lakeview Interagency Office, 3100 S. G St., Lakeview, Ore. A virtual participation option will also be available and participation instructions will be posted to the RAC’s webpage in advance of the meeting at https://www.blm.gov/get-involved/resource-advisory-council/near-you/oregon-washington/southeast-oregon-rac.
The Tuesday, Oct. 17, meeting will be held from 1:45 p.m. to 5 p.m. Pacific Time (PT). The Wednesday, Oct. 18, meeting will be held from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. PT.
Advisory councils consist of up to 15 members that represent diverse interests present in the local community. The Southeast Oregon RAC provides advice and recommendations to the Secretary of the Interior on public land resource and management issues in the Vale, Burns and Lakeview districts.
“Southeast Oregon RAC members represent the Malheur, Harney and Lake county communities of eastern Oregon,” Acting Vale District Manager Shane DeForest said. “They provide essential feedback on matters of public interest and help to ensure broad perspectives are considered when decisions are made.”
Agenda topics include a regional programmatic aquatic and riparian restoration environmental assessment, rangeland management actions and updates regarding the Lakeview Resource Management Plan Amendment and Southeastern Oregon Resource Management Plan Amendment.
A half-hour comment period, during which the public may address the RAC, will be offered at 4:30 p.m. PT Tuesday, Oct. 17. Depending on the number of people wishing to comment and time available, the amount of time for individual oral comments may be limited.
