Bureau of Land Management extends public comment period on lithium exploration project near Wikieup

KINGMAN, Ariz. — To allow more time for public participation, the Bureau of Land Management is extending the comment period on a proposed lithium exploration plan from Big Sandy Inc. The plan would allow for 145 drill sites and a bulk sample near the town of Wikieup in Mohave County. Public comments will be extended another 30 days, from May 11 through June 10, 2021.
This exploration drilling project is proposed to disturb 26 acres of public land, located within several sections east of Wikieup. Diamond core drill holes are expected to reach target depths of approximately 300 feet. The exploration drill sites would be reclaimed following the proposed activities.
This environmental assessment analyzed potential environmental impacts of Big Sandy Inc.’s proposed exploration plan. Copies of the preliminary EA will be available for public review and commenting through BLM’s ePlanning website: https://go.usa.gov/xH4vE. Comments may also be mailed to the Kingman Field Office, 2755 Mission Blvd, Kingman, AZ 86401. All comments must be received online or postmarked by June 10, 2021, to be considered in the final decision.
